Life Transitions

Life transitions can create anxiety, frustration, fear, anger as well as hope, excitement, pleasure and contentment.  It’s all about how we are prepared and what our internal thoughts are about the transition.

Here are some transitions that can spark the feelings described above:

Part of the problems we have with life transitions is our thoughts and fears about expectations.  We often have predetermined ideas of how a transition will be, how we will react to it and how it could impact our life.  Often these transitions are hopeful and wanted; sometimes they are surprising and upsetting, and can leave us with negative thoughts and feelings.

Psychotherapy can help to manage the impacts of life transitions. Talking about expectations and strengths and weaknesses can help us prepare for the transition.  Developing plans to meet possible outcomes and preparing for those outcomes can increase our self-assurance and confidence if and when we find ourselves about to enter a life transition or having to face one we did not choose.

Psychotherapy can help.
