ABOUT ME

Larry Goodman, LMFT

I grew up in Los Angeles when it was easy to drive around, went to an amazing public high school and college at UCSB and UCLA.  I have had multiple careers, am married and have several grandchildren.  I’ve traveled extensively, enjoyed competitive sailing and scuba diving and like to cook.

The first important lesson I learned was that it wasn’t just “OK” to make mistakes, it was important and expected.  This came from the first boss I ever had and allowed me the freedom to challenge myself, take healthy business risks and question why businesses struggled when there was an easier way to solve their problems.  I have used this “freedom” throughout my life with success.

I exercise to stay healthy and fit.  I enjoy helping all kinds and all ages of people.

With almost 30 years as a licensed psychotherapist and 30 years of corporate and technical experience in financial services, IT, manufacturing, marketing, and project development, I offer a unique insight into dealing with personal and business challenges.

My corporate background includes

  • Technology and product/project development for one of the largest California banks and the world’s largest credit card institution
  • Internal Consultant for a nation-wide conglomerate with companies in aerospace, multiple manufacturing divisions producing business aircraft and rocket engines to televisions, radios and commercial tools.
  • Executive Director of a community mental health organization with fifteen employees
  • Managing multiple levels of IT employees in large corporate environments
  • Working with internal corporate and “outside” attorneys in numerous contracts and served as a subject matter expert in a successful $100M lawsuit
  • Served on the board of a $500M credit union for ten years and on three boards of mental health professionals in California for over twenty years
  • BA in Economics (UCSB and UCLA), an MBA in Marketing (UCLA 1967) and am MA in Counseling (JF Kennedy University 1998)
  • Licensed in California as a Marriage Family Therapist (2001)
