Home / Individual Psychotherapy
Individuals seek psychotherapy when they are upset, when they are faced with issues they have not been able to resolve or they have been asked by another to get help for what is troubling them.
There are many therapeutic approaches to help resolve these issues. Common approaches focus on symptoms in an attempt to reduce or alleviate the problems or complaints, hoping to being quick relief to the client. These can relieve immediate stress, however, solutions that focus on symptoms often fail to last over time because the underlying causes were not addressed. Medication is an example of a good solution that can reduce symptoms of anxiety or depression temporarily but does not treat the underlying issue.
I want clients to achieve a better outcome. That can mean working with clients to explore and resolve their issues. These origins often relate to early childhood experiences, including trauma, and how we were raised by our parents (whether we were loved and supported or just tolerated or worse and sometime far worse. When the origin of the anxiety or depression becomes clear, and the client begins to understand that she or he was not responsible for or the cause of the trauma, a path to relief can begin.
In Individual Psychotherapy, you can learn why you struggle in relationships and begin to improve them, create emotional boundaries to protect yourself, develop positive communication skills to better deal with confrontation and feel good about yourself as you see the changes you have made in your life.
